For over a decade, Licener has been trusted across continents as a safe, effective over-the-counter treatment against head lice. But with the EU’s sweeping regulatory reform, the familiar landscape changed dramatically. The new MDR redefined the rules for medical devices — and demanded far more than just proof that a product works.

Licener’s effectiveness and safety had already been well established through clinical trials and years of surveillance on real-world use. Yet the MDR brought a new challenge: (re-)proving every aspect of product design, testing, and monitoring within a unique, European, hyper-integrated framework, often to an almost philosophical degree.

While the additional control and record-keeping load continued to be internationally argued to be excessive, especially for smaller organizations, Pronova saw it as an opportunity: from the ground up, its team designed a lean, modern quality system that not only meets the MDR’s expectations but showcases transparency, control, and continuous improvement.

Even with that solid foundation, the road to CE certification wasn’t exactly a walk in the park. As now learned by many, the MDR might well ask you to prove the sky is blue, and you’d better reference the latest ISO standard on colour measurement while you’re at it.

But perseverance pays off. Every re-test, every review, every audit reinforced the true value of Licener: a plant-based, one-step solution that helps families worldwide deal with head lice safely and effectively, without compromise or comparison.

As the season turns, Licener stands certified and shining — officially the first Class IIa device of its kind registered under the MDR in the European database. It’s a milestone that opens the door to an even brighter future, both within and beyond the EU.

Het Verhaal van de Wijn

Op de hellingen van het landgoed groeien druiven die de Spaanse zon en koele nachten in zich opnemen. Elke druif wordt met de hand geplukt, omdat alleen zo de perfecte selectie kan worden gemaakt. In Franse eiken vaten rijpen deze druiven tot wijnen die zowel kracht als verfijning bezitten.

Het landgoed maakt onderscheid tussen de jongere en oudere stokken, wat zich vertaalt in verschillende wijnen. De Syrah Joven van de jongere stokken biedt toegankelijke elegantie, terwijl de Syrah en Cabernet Sauvignon van de oudere stokken diepere complexiteit en geconcentreerde smaken leveren – wijnen die tijd nodig hadden om te worden wat ze zijn.

Voor de witte wijnen kiest Mas Fuertes druiven die niet traditioneel Spaans zijn maar hier perfect gedijen: Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc en Grenache Blanc brengen frisheid en karakter. Maar het landgoed durft verder te gaan. De 100% Petit Verdot is een bewijs daarvan – een druif die zelden solo wordt gebruikt, maar hier zijn volle potentieel laat zien. En dan is er de witte Syrah, een wijn die nieuwsgierigheid oproept nog voordat het glas aan de lippen wordt gezet. Beide wijnen zijn onconventioneel, net als het landgoed zelf.

Olijven die Prijzen Winnen

Tussen de wijnstokken staan olijfbomen, sommige van soorten die alleen in deze regio gedijen. De Argudell is daar een voorbeeld van – exclusief verbonden aan Catalonië en niet voor niets de nummer 1 in de regio en in de top 10 van heel Spanje. De internationale jury die deze olie goud gaf, begreep wat lokale kenners al lang wisten.

De Arbequina heeft een internationaler verhaal maar blijft trouw aan de traditionele methode: koud geperst binnen 24 uur na de oogst. Geen tussenstappen, geen compromissen. Ook deze olie ontving internationaal goud, een erkenning die de kwaliteit van het ambachtelijke proces bevestigt.

Dan is er nog de Corivell, zo zeldzaam dat zelfs in Spanje weinigen ermee werken. Deze olie won een award om hoe het wordt gepresenteerd – nummer 1 in zijn categorie.

Bijen die Reizen

Op het landgoed zoemen bijen tussen de bloemen, producerend wat erin zit: pure honing zonder toevoegingen. Maar Mas Fuertes kent de grenzen van de natuur. Als de Spaanse zomer te heet wordt, verhuizen de bijen tijdelijk naar de Pyreneeën, waar andere bloemen andere smaken geven. Het resultaat is honing die vertelt waar hij vandaan komt.

Zelfs wat overblijft na het honingproces krijgt een tweede leven. De bijenpollen worden verzameld en verpakt – niets wordt verspild, alles heeft waarde.

Klein Maar Consequent

Mas Fuertes had groter kunnen zijn, maar heeft bewust gekozen voor schaal die kwaliteit mogelijk maakt. Biologisch en ecologisch zijn geen marketingtermen hier, maar de basis waarop alles rust. Het landgoed produceert geen massa, maar creëert producten die verhalen vertellen over de plek waar ze vandaan komen.

Van druif tot bijenpollen, alles draagt het karakter van een landgoed dat zijn eigen pad volgt.
